ACJ Speaker Session: Technology and Journalism

Slides from my speaker session at Asian College of Journalism earlier today. Great audience, and insightful points raised afterwards. I was really impressed by everyone I met.

Main points I tried to make were:
  1. Trusted sources continue to matter
  2. People will pay for more than information - knowledge and insights
  3. There's no longer new media and print media, the digital and physical worlds meld
  4. News has to be personalized and context based
  5. New distribution and editorial models may evolve, like what iTunes did to music
  6. Fundamentals matter - example of dot com boom and bust
  7. New readers growing up in this century are digital era babies, will be key decision makers in the next 10 years.
